Tata Motors has launched the Dark Edition of its premium mid-size SUV Sierra. This special edition is available at a starting price of Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Sierra Dark has Frisian Black exterior, Violet Eclipse interior theme and Purple Chrome detailing. It is available in six trims – Pure L, Pure L (O), Pure+ L, Adventure+ L, Accomplished and Accomplished+. Prices go up to Rs 21.59 lakh for the top-spec Accomplished+ diesel automatic.
With the addition of the Legend Series and Dark Edition, the entire Sierra lineup now reaches 65 trim, engine and gearbox combinations. The entire range starts from Rs 11.49 lakh to Rs 21.59 lakh. Design and interior
The exterior of the Sierra Dark is completely painted in Frisian Black shade. Black logo, badging and black colored alloy wheels give it a stealth look. Purple chrome accents make it more special. The silhouette and road stance remain the same as the original Sierra. Violet Eclipse theme has been adopted in the cabin. Black leatherette upholstery with purple chrome detailing and violet purple elements make it premium and distinct. Dark graphics are also present on the seat headrests.

Features are available as per trim. The base Pure L has features like touchscreen infotainment, wireless smartphone connectivity, rear camera, cruise control, hill descent control and alloy wheels. Higher trims come with voice-assisted panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, powered driver seat, Boss Mode, dual-zone climate control, 360-degree HD camera, triple-screen setup, HUD, 12-speaker JBL sound system with Dolby Atmos and connected car technology.
How safe is it?
Sierra has received a 5-star rating from Bharat NCAP. Standard includes 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, traction control, hill hold and ISOFIX mounts. Higher variants get Level 2/2+ ADAS (13 to 22 features) like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist and blind spot monitoring.
Powertrain and performance
It has three engine options. The first is a 1.5-litre Revotron naturally aspirated petrol producing 106 PS and 145 Nm torque. It can be bought with 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCA. The 1.5-litre Hyperion turbo-petrol produces 160 PS and 255 Nm, mated to a 6-speed automatic. The 1.5-litre Cryojet diesel produces 118 PS with 260 Nm of torque in the manual and 280 Nm of torque in the automatic. It can be purchased in 6-speed MT/AT.
