Post Monsoon Car Care Tips: After the monsoon season ends, the car needs special care. The Indian monsoon brings moisture, waterlogging, potholes, mud and dirt, which affect the car’s exterior shine, interior, tyres, body and electrical system. Constant rain increases the risk of metal parts rusting, while moisture can cause mold and odor in the cabin.

Water and mud on the roads wear out the tires and damage the underbody. If not taken care of timely, these problems can affect the performance and life of the car in the long run. Therefore, after monsoon, it is very important to clean the car thoroughly, check for rust and get the necessary parts serviced. These small steps keep the car safe and shiny for a long time.

clean the car’s exterior thoroughly

During monsoon, mud, dust and dirt accumulates on the car body. Dirt also collects in the wheel wells and underbody. Wash entire body with pH-balanced car shampoo and then dry thoroughly. Clean the wheel and underside with special care. After cleaning, apply car wax. This creates a protective layer on the paint and makes the car look shiny. Regular cleaning also reduces rust and stains.

Check and treat rust immediately

Monsoon moisture causes rust on metal parts. Check the body panel, underbody and other metal parts thoroughly. If rust appears, use rust remover or anti-corrosive spray. It is good to have anti-rust coating on the underbody. This prevents rust from spreading in the future and increases the lifespan of the car. If not treated on time, metal parts can become weak.

Check and care for tires

Potholes, water and mud damage tires during monsoon. Check tread depth and uneven wear. If tread is reduced or wear is uneven, get the tire replaced. Also maintain correct air pressure. Good tires increase both grip and safety on the road. Regular checkups reduce the risk of accidents and improve the handling of the car.

clean car interior

Monsoon humidity can cause mold and odor in the cabin. Vacuum seats, carpets and floor mats. Clean the dashboard, door panels and other surfaces with interior cleaner. Keep moisture absorbing pads or dehumidifier. This keeps the cabin fresh. With regular cleaning, there is no problem of allergy and bad smell.

check electrical system

Water can damage electrical parts. Check headlights, taillights, indicators, fog lamps and brake lights. If there is rust on the battery terminals, clean it with a brush. If any light is not working, get it repaired immediately. The correct electrical system ensures both safety and features. Sudden malfunction can be avoided by regular checking.
