Face and voice can be stolen in a few seconds, how to stay safeZoom

If a stranger just asks you, ‘Brother, please help me with my phone’, would you immediately take his phone in your hand? Generally there seems to be nothing wrong in this. But a new cyber fraud alert viral on social media has informed people about similar help. It has been claimed in the viral post that thugs can contact people in public places on the pretext of using their phones and during this they can try to get recording of their voice and face. Later, there is a danger of them being misused through AI and deepfake technology.

However, this viral claim has not been completely confirmed. Since it is possible to mimic voice and face through AI, caution regarding digital identity is necessary. In such a situation, it is better to avoid entering any personal information on the phone of an unknown person.

How can this kind of fraud happen?

According to the post, thugs can ask for help in malls, markets, metro stations or other crowded places. They may say that they do not know how to operate a phone or that they need to check information related to any government service, pension or subsidy. In such a situation, if the phone’s camera or video call is already on, the face of the person in front can be recorded. There is a possibility that the voice may also be recorded during the conversation. This data can later be used to create fake videos or voices through AI tools.
