Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal has shared some interesting information about his new wellness startup Temple. He said Temple’s technology and a new health metric ‘Entropy’ have changed the way he understands meditation and the body’s recovery.

While sharing several posts on X, Goyal said that earlier he found it difficult to understand the benefits of meditation. But through Temple, he is now able to track even small changes in his recovery.

Tried to meditate for 10 years

According to Deepinder Goyal, he tried meditation for about 10 years, but he never felt that it was getting any major benefit. He says that even during meditation, thoughts kept running in his mind, so it was difficult to understand whether his practice was actually working or not.

After using Temple, he found a new way to measure this thing. Goyal said that this metric called Entropy allows him to see the changes in recovery in great detail. This means that they do not have to wait every time to feel whether meditation has been beneficial or not.

According to him, when he started seeing his improvement in the data, his motivation to continue meditation also increased.

Entropy gives different information than heart rate.

Goyal also shared a chart of his 20-minute meditation session. In this the Entropy score appeared to be gradually decreasing. According to Temple, this indicates better recovery of the body.

At the same time, his heart rate did not change much during this period. During the session the heart rate remained around 83 beats per minute and only minor fluctuations were seen.

Goyal says that from this it can be understood that it is not easy to guess every change happening in the body during meditation or recovery just by looking at the heart rate.

Change seen in cold shower also

Goyal shared another example, in which he took a cold shower. During this period, his heart rate increased rapidly, while a clear decline was seen in Entropy and later it became stable. According to him, this hints that Entropy can track changes in the body not only during meditation, but also during other activities related to stress or recovery.

Goyal also said that this technology has inspired him to work out more regularly and exercise properly. However, Temple will share more information about the complete science behind Entropy in the future.

You can sign up for early access in the temple.

Temple has currently started a waitlist for Early Access on its website. Deepinder Goyal has appealed to those who are interested in trying this new wellness technology to sign up.

It is clear from this that Temple’s focus is not limited to just showing fitness data. The company is working on new types of data and metrics to understand the body’s recovery and mental state.
