Volvo Cars India has launched its flagship electric SUV EX90 in India. It is available in 6 seater Ultra variant and its introductory ex-showroom price has been kept at ₹ 1.26 crore. This new electric SUV of the company is being considered as an all-electric alternative to the XC90. It comes in positioning above EX30 and EC40. Volvo has also offered a special ownership package for customers booking till 31 December 2026.
This package includes 11 kW home charger, three years service package and assured buyback scheme of 65 percent value after three years. The EX90 will compete with models like the Kia EV9 and Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV in India’s luxury electric SUV segment. Design and dimensions
EX90 follows a minimalist approach in design. The front has a closed-off facia, T-shaped LED headlight and pixel-style daylight running lights. The side profile features an upright stance, flush design and standard 21-inch alloy wheels.
The wheelbase is 2,985 mm and ground clearance is 210 mm, which can be increased by 250 mm with air suspension. There is a C-shaped LED tail lamp at the rear and Volvo lettering in the centre. Color options include Crystal White, Denim Blue, Mulberry Red, Onyx Black, Sand Dune and Vapor Grey.
Cabin and Comfort
The interior is also clean and luxurious. Two-tone Nappa leather upholstery, brushed aluminum accents and three-spoke steering wheel are provided. There is a 14.5-inch vertical touchscreen infotainment system and 9-inch digital instrument display on the dashboard. In India, it will come in a six-seater configuration, with captain chairs in the second row. These slide and recline.
Features and safety
Features like panoramic sunroof (switchable transparency), four-zone climate control, 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging pad, digital key, cabin air purifier, 360-degree camera and automatic parking assistance are available in its feature list.
In terms of safety, EX90 has been provided with 9 airbags and Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). Boot space is 324 liters when the third row is used and 690 liters when folded. There is also a 46 liter trunk in the front.
Battery, Motor and Range
The Volvo EX90 has a 106 KWH battery pack and dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup. Both the motors together deliver 456 horsepower and 670 Newton-meter torque. Acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph is achieved in just 5.5 seconds and the top speed is limited to 180 kmph. According to the company, the WLTP range on a single charge is up to 625 kilometers.
Built on SPA2 architecture, this SUV comes with 800-volt electrical system. It supports DC fast charging up to 350 kW, due to which 10 to 80 percent charge is done in about 22 minutes. It takes about 11 hours to fully charge an 11 KW AC walkbox.
