The new model of Skoda Slavia is going to hit the Indian market soon. The company has started its production at Chakan plant in Pune. Skoda Auto Volkswagen India has started production of the new Slavia at its Chakan plant in Pune. This updated sedan is going to hit the market before the festive season. According to the company, Slavia has sold around 80,000 units in India since its launch and has achieved around 30 percent share in the segment. The new Slavia is based on the existing design and engineering, but with several significant upgrades in technology, comfort and features.
It includes features like 1.0-litre TSI engine with segment-first 8-speed automatic transmission, rear seat massage function, 360-degree camera and Google Cloud powered AI infotainment system. It will retain the 5-star Global NCAP safety rating. The start of production highlights the company’s strong manufacturing capability in India, where the two plants have an annual capacity of 3.15 lakh vehicles. Design and interior
In terms of design, the new Slavia has new LED headlamps, chrome strip grill and revised bumper at the front. At the rear, there are new LED taillamps, which include sequential (dynamic) turn indicators. The look has become more attractive with new alloy wheels and new color options like Arctic Silver and Cappuccino Beige.
The interior has a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The biggest feature is the segment-first massage function on the rear seat, which will increase comfort in long trips.
Features have improved with 360-degree area view camera, front parking sensor and infotainment with AI companion. It includes many variants including Monte Carlo trim. In safety, 6 airbags are standard on all variants and 5-star Global NCAP rating remains.
Engine and Performance
It is available with a 1.0-litre TSI (approximately 115 bhp, 178 Nm) with a 6-speed manual or a new 8-speed torque-converter automatic, which will provide smoother shifting and better efficiency. The 1.5-litre TSI (approx. 147-150 bhp, 250 Nm) comes mated to a 7-speed DSG and also gets rear disc brakes. The new Slavia will be ready for delivery in the festive season.
