India Mobile Congress: This time in the India Mobile Congress, which showcased the strength of India’s telecommunication technology and connectivity, Jio presented its plan in a different style. The company said that its preparation is now on extending the network to every inch of land in the country and improving connectivity to remote areas with the help of space.
India Mobile Congress: Jio will spread from ground to sky, connectivity will increase with 1600 satellites and 23 ground stations, New Delhi. After fast mobile network and fiber on the ground, Jio is now eyeing space. The company has started work on a proposed constellation of about 1,600 satellites and a plan to prepare 23 ground stations. Its aim is to provide connectivity to those areas where access to ground network is difficult. Jio has showcased its satellite vision at the ongoing India Mobile Congress 2026 in Delhi, in which it has shown how Jio’s connectivity from ground to sky is going to be tremendous in the coming times. Jio has named it ‘Sovereign Satellite Connectivity’. Under this, a proposed constellation of about 1,600 Low Earth Orbit i.e. LEO satellites has been shown. The company’s vision is to have control over the entire chain in India, from design, engineering, integration and testing to launch, deployment and operation. 23 proposed ground stations will play an important role in this plan. These stations will connect the satellite network to the Indian soil. There is also a plan to connect the existing terrestrial networks of satellite and Jio together. Every inch of land will be covered. Jio’s display shows a vision of reaching more than 6 lakh villages in the country along with 100 percent coverage of land and sea area. Remote villages, island areas and border outposts are in focus. Apart from this, the possibility of its use has also been shown in enterprise, remote sites, aviation, maritime, government, defense and disaster response. There is also mention of direct to device calling for rural areas. Work on the theme of Scale Without Boundaries: This time the theme of India Mobile Congress is ‘Scale Without Boundaries’. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 10th edition of IMC on Thursday. This theme puts forward the idea of taking technology and connectivity beyond traditional boundaries. Jio’s satellite plan appears to be a technical example of this thinking, where there is a preparation to expand the network through space beyond the limits of tower and fiber. At present, both 1,600 satellites and 23 ground stations are part of the proposed plan, but its direction is clear. Jio seems to be preparing to reach the next frontier of connectivity by connecting ground and space networks.
