Amritsar businessman Rakesh Trehan had announced to set up ‘iPhone Langar’ in Chandigarh and Mohali on September 22. He is known as ‘Raja D King’ on social media. He had claimed that he would distribute iPhone 17 and above models as ‘Prasad’. Trehan has been making such announcements in the past as well and claims to be using the inherited wealth while calling himself a crypto trader.
Chandigarh Deputy Commissioner Nishant Yadav on Saturday directed the police that this proposed program should not be allowed. He said that gathering of such a large crowd could create a stampede-like situation. Yadav told that last time also Trehan had announced free petrol langar, which could attract thousands of people and was risky. Now such iPhone langar has been completely banned in Chandigarh.

Chandigarh SSP Kanwardeep Kaur said that the organizer had not applied for any kind of permission. Organizing such a meeting without permission will be considered a violation of Section 163 of BNSS.
Stop in Mohali also
Mohali SSP Varun Sharma clarified that he does not have information about any permitted ‘iPhone langar’. No such program will be allowed to be held in the district without the permission of the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Legal action will be taken against any attempt to organize an event without permission.
What is the legal provision?
Violation of the order issued under Section 163 of BNSS is punishable under Section 223 of BNSS. For simple violations, the punishment can be simple imprisonment up to six months or fine up to Rs 2500 or both. If the violation is likely to cause danger to life or property or incite riot, the punishment may be imprisonment up to one year and a fine up to Rs 5,000.
Officials say that maintaining public safety and order is a priority, hence strict action is being taken against such programs that gather large crowds without permission.
