India and New Zealand will lock horns again in the second T20I at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Saturday. India leads the five-match T20I series 1-0 after winning the first T20I by four wickets in a high-scoring game.
Batting first, New Zealand posted 225/4 powered by Glenn Phillips’ unbeaten 82 off 40 balls. In reply, India openers Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma set the tone early with some swashbuckling shots in the Powerplay to help the visitor score 94 runs in the first six.
Then, Shreyas Iyer (42 off 28 balls) and Naman Dhir’s cameo (42* off 15 balls) helped India overhaul the target with two balls to spare, and register its highest ever chase in T20Is in the process.
For the visitor, Ishan Kishan has been ruled out of the second T20I with a groin strain, with teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in line to take his place.
