New Delhi. Mahindra has launched its 3-door SUV in the market with a completely new attitude and unmatched power. Launched with the name Thar OG, this SUV has now become not only a vehicle that runs on the roads, but also a machine that can overcome even the most inaccessible roads. Coming at a starting introductory ex-showroom price of Rs 10.32 lakh, this new Thar will replace the 2020 model. Its delivery will start from 11 October 2026. Mahindra has introduced Thar OG in AXT, LXT and ZXT variants.

The real magic of the new Thar OG is found in its 4-wheel drive (4WD) system. Mahindra has equipped it with very advanced off-road electronics. Now it has been provided with special terrain mode with Electronic Locking Differential (ELD).

Thar OG will not stop anywhere

Mud Mode has been given in Thar OG to maintain the grip of the wheels in sticky mud and marshy roads. That means the car will run gallop even in mud. It has Sand Mode to deliver powerful throttle without getting stuck in sandy dunes and loose soil. Snow Mode will be available for precise traction and safety on icy and slippery roads and turns. That means, whether it is the snow of Ladakh or the sandy shores of Rajasthan, this new 4WD setup of Thar OG will not let it stop.

Thar OG will get three engine options

Mahindra Thar OG has been launched in the market with three powerful engines to suit every driving need-

  • 2.0-litre G20 TGDi mStallion Turbo Petrol: This engine produces a massive power of around 160 hp and peak torque of 330 Nm, which is perfect for those who love instant acceleration and speed.
  • 2.2-litre D22 mHawk diesel: This 150 hp power and 330 Nm torque engine gives unmatched pulling power for off-roading and long distance journeys.
  • 1.5-litre D117 CRDe diesel: Coming with rear-wheel drive (RWD), this economical engine generates 117 hp power and 300 Nm torque.

You will feel luxury in the ride

The biggest complaint of the old Thar was its stiff and hesitant suspension, which Mahindra has completely eliminated this time. The new Thar OG is built on Mahindra’s state-of-the-art M_Glyde 4G platform. Its chassis is stronger than before. Pentalink suspension with Watts Link has been provided in its rear. Besides, it has been provided with Frequency Dependent Damping (FDD) system, which will automatically absorb shocks on potholes and stones. It has been provided with electric power steering, while due to better NVH insulation, there will now be little to no road and wind noise inside the cabin.

6 airbags and disc brakes on all four wheels

The top variant ZXT of Thar OG has the maximum number of safety features. It will get six airbags. It includes 4 exclusive HPTS airbags, which protect the head, pelvis, thorax and shoulders. Disc brakes have been provided in all four wheels, which are supported by the modern ESP 9.3 system. Front parking sensor, rear-view camera and real-time tire-pressure monitoring system (TPMS) are provided.

Thar OG comes in three variants

Mahindra has divided Thar OG into AXT, LXT and ZXT variants-

  1. AXT Variants: This base model comes with essential features like electric power steering, push-button start, dual airbags, ESP, roll cage, rear AC vents and 18-inch steel wheels.
  2. LXT Variants: It has electronic locking differential, 10.25-inch large HD touchscreen, color MID, cruise control, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay and 18-inch alloy wheels for the 4WD version.
