OpenAI CEO Sam Altman believes that people in India are more positive about Artificial Intelligence (AI) than in America. During a conversation on Raj Shamani’s podcast, Altman cited the country’s rapidly growing economy as a major reason for this. He also said that India has become the largest market for ChatGPT in terms of number of users. The number of people using ChatGPT here is more than in America.
According to Altman, people in India are not only using AI for everyday tasks, but are also looking for ways to start new businesses with its help.
Why is there more confidence in AI in India?
During the podcast, Raj Shamani asked Altman that in America people are often seen raising questions and expressing concerns about AI, whereas in India there is more enthusiasm about this technology. Altman agreed with this and cited the pace of economic development as a reason behind this.
He said that in countries whose economy is growing rapidly, people seem more ready to adopt AI. In comparison, people’s perspective on new technology in developed economies may be different.
According to Altman, there is a need for many types of products and services in developing countries. AI can help meet these needs. This is the reason why people in a country like India are seeing this technology as a new opportunity.
Student raised money for school using OpenAI tools
In the conversation, Altman also gave an example of different and creative uses of ChatGPT in India. He mentioned a young student who had to raise money for his school. The student had no prior experience in fund raising, but he completed the entire process with the help of OpenAI’s tools.
Altman explained through this example that with the help of AI, even people who previously did not have the experience or resources for a particular task can complete their tasks.
Starting a new company in the era of AI is a big opportunity
OpenAI CEO described AI as a big opportunity for entrepreneurs and those working on new ideas. He believes that this could be one of the best times in history to start a new company or create a new technology.
Altman also advised new founders to work on such ideas, whose importance is not understood by everyone at the moment. According to him, many big opportunities arise when a person recognizes the possibilities of a new technology before others.
