India takes on New Zealand in the first of a five-match ODI series at Eden Park in Auckland on Wednesday, with next year’s World Cup firmly in focus.
During the opening few overs, India captain Shubman Gill was spotted wearing a small, oval-shaped object near his right eye. He had also been seen wearing it during training in the build-up to the series opener.
The device, called ‘Temple’, is fitness-related and has also been used by badminton star P. V. Sindhu in recent months.
What is Temple, the device Shubman Gill is wearing?
Developed by Deepinder Goyal, founder of Zomato and Eternal, Temple is worn on the skin around the temple region, as its name suggests.
The device is designed to monitor blood flow to the brain. It attaches to the user’s skin using double-sided tape and is built to remain in place even during intense physical activity.
