Tesla has introduced Halloween Mode for the Model Y and Model YL electric SUVs for the first time in India. This feature has been made available through over-the-air (OTA) software updates, so that owners do not need to visit the service center. According to the company, this update turns the car into a ‘haunted house on wheels’. This includes a ghost-themed in-app avatar, interactive lighting animations, Halloween sound effects, photobooth experience and app-based voice messages.
Customers can also see these features in Tesla Experience Centers, which are located in Noida, Delhi, Gurugram, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Mumbai. Update released on 30 October 2026. The biggest thing is that the company is providing new features without any physical visit. With this, owners can decorate their vehicle in a seasonal and fun way.
Ghost costume and avatar
The main attraction of Halloween mode is the ghost costume feature. This changes the car’s in-app avatar to a ghostly design. In some reports, it has been described as a shiny white sheet, in which eye holes are visible. Tesla did not clarify whether this avatar also appears on the car’s central touchscreen, but in the app it gives a festive and spooky look.
trick or treat mode
When Trick or Treat mode is activated, scary sounds and blinking lights are activated when a visitor approaches the car. This feature makes the car interactive and can create a fun but slightly scary atmosphere in the neighborhood.
Light Show, Wraps and Lock Sound
The update includes a new Halloween-themed light show. It features seasonal lighting sequences, exclusive seasonal wraps and a spooky lock sound. These visual and audio elements make the car more attractive.
Photobooth and voice messages
The Photobooth Experience lets users take Halloween-themed photos from inside the Model Y. Apart from this, in the Voice from Beyond feature, the car owner can speak through the Tesla app and the car repeats it in its scary voice. This can startle people even from a distance.
All these features come via OTA update and are available for Model Y and Model YL Honors in India. These can also be tried in Tesla Experience Centers. These updates reflect the company’s remote software delivery capabilities.
