Not only youth but also elderly people are coming to the mobile repairing shops located below the LIC office of the city to buy old iPhones. This place is also called Dal Mandi of Ghazipur. Different models of iPhones are available here with prices ranging from Rs 6,000 to Rs 60,000.
Shashank Shekhar, a businessman associated with this business, told Local 18 that in the year 2022, the idea of making iPhone available at a low price came to his mind. Their aim was to provide iPhone to those people who cannot buy a new phone due to it being expensive. Initially some people sold them their old iPhones. After this he started selling these phones further. After getting good response from the customers, he expanded this business further.
Shashank told that models ranging from iPhone 5 to iPhone 17 are available at his shop. Mid-range models like iPhone 13 and 14 are most liked among the customers. Their price ranges between Rs 20,000 to Rs 28,000 depending on the condition of the phone. Due to high demand, these models sometimes become out of stock.

The shopkeeper told that iPhone 5 is available for around Rs 5,000 to 6,000. However, this is a basic model, in which basic facilities like calling are available and new updates are not available. For a better experience, he advises customers to buy iPhone 12 or later models. Their starting price is said to be around Rs 15,000. At the same time, iPhone 13 Pro is also an option for customers who want better camera and pro features, whose price is around Rs 40,000 to 45,000.
To ensure that customers do not face any problem in buying a second hand phone, the process related to phone inspection and billing is taken care of at the shop. Shashank explains that while buying an old iPhone, a confirmed GST bill and box is taken from the seller. Phones are not purchased without bill. Customers can also check the camera, speaker and other features before purchasing the phone by inserting a SIM in it. For the convenience of customers, insurance facility is also provided over the phone. Along with young customers, people up to 50 years of age are also coming to buy iPhone in this market. Some are buying second hand phones for hobby and some as per need. Customers believe that this gives them an opportunity to use Apple phones in a low budget.
Vikas, who came to buy the phone, told that he had bought a basic iPhone for Rs 6,000. According to him, the brand status of iPhone attracts people, but because the new phone is expensive, not everyone can buy it. In such a situation, second hand iPhone became a good option for them. At the same time, customer Alok Kushwaha told that he is thinking of buying iPhone 13 or iPhone 12 Mini. He is liking the look and camera of the phone.
