Rest of India defeated Jammu and Kashmir to win the Irani Cup 2026 on Sunday.
J & K, which held the advantage after taking the first innings lead, was bowled out for 111 while chasing 279 for the win.
Mukesh Kumar was the standout performer with the ball for RoI, with six wickets. Mukesh found able support from his pace bowling partner Akash Deep, who struck thrice, including the wickets of both openers.
Talking about the chase, J & K openers Qamran Iqbal and Shubham Pundir gave the home crowd and the dugout reason to believe the task at hand was achievable. However, once Akash removed the opening pair, RoI established control.
J & K, from being at 89/3 at one stage, lost its last seven wickets for just 22 runs. A collapse of the highest order from J & K ensured RoI lifted the Irani Cup for the first time since the 2024-25 season.
