In this, methods of blocking IMEI and SIM, changing password and securing digital accounts are explained. Keep the IMEI number of the mobile safe. After police complaint, get the IMEI of the mobile blocked through Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR). This can reduce the risk of theft or misuse of lost mobile.
Jaipur. Mobile phone theft and subsequent cyber incidents are increasing day by day in Jaipur. Due to increasing such incidents, a guideline has been issued to secure data in case of loss of mobile. Under this, now it will be necessary to block IMEI and SIM in case of loss of mobile. Because the lost mobile contains information related to banking, UPI, e-mail, social media, OTP and personal documents, which are used by criminals in cyber crimes.
You can secure your data in these 10 ways if your phone is lost.
According to the advisory issued by Rajasthan Police, if a person’s phone is lost or stolen at any time or place, then first of all remotely lock the phone through ‘Find My Device’ in any Android phone and ‘Find My iPhone’ in iPhone. After this, immediately change the passwords of e-mail, social media and other important accounts from another secure device. After this, in the second step, contact your mobile service provider and get the lost SIM blocked, because the number can be used for OTP and account recovery. After this, immediately block mobile banking, UPI and digital wallet through the bank’s official app, website or customer care and also keep checking the transactions happening in the account continuously.
If this happens, inform the bank immediately
If you see any suspicious transaction, inform the bank immediately. Then get a replacement SIM of the same number and after reactivation, check the security settings of important accounts. Also, it is important for every person to always activate two-factor authentication in e-mail, social media and other important accounts.
You can complain by entering the IMEI number of your mobile.
It has been said in the advisory of Rajasthan Police that one should report the loss or theft of the mobile phone to the nearest police station and keep the IMEI number of the mobile safe. After police complaint, get the IMEI of the mobile blocked through Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR). This can reduce the risk of theft or misuse of lost mobile. Since mobile phones contain information related to banking and other financial services, there is a risk of them being misused after theft.
Do these things immediately if your mobile is stolen
In case of cyber fraud or attempted fraud after loss or theft of mobile, immediately inform the nearest police station, cyber police station, cyber crime reporting portal or cyber helpline 1930. Rajasthan Cyber Helpdesk numbers 9256001930 and 9257510100 have also been issued. Apart from this, people also have the facility to lodge financial fraud complaint on Sanchar Sathi App and National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
