Israel election results 2026 LIVE: Israeli President Isaac Herzog receives the official results of the elections for the 26th Knesset from the Chairman of the Central Elections Committee Justice Noam Sohlberg

Israel Election Results 2026 LIVE: Israel’s Central Election Committee has officially declared the results for the 2026 legislative elections and now handed over the list to Israeli President Isaac Herzog. The official results come amid a deadlock between incumbent prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s bloc and the Gadi Eisenkot-led Opposition, and Netanyahu bloc’s allegations of voter charge. The voter theft and fraud allegations were dismissed by the Israeli poll body on Wednesday morning.

In the 120-seat Knesset, parties need at least 61 seats to stake a claim at forming the government. According to the poll body, Netanyahu’s bloc won 53 seats in the October 27 elections, while the opposition bloc, led by Eisenkot, won 48, meaning neither side can form a government.

Despite this stalemate, the elections were a big one for Israel’s Arab parties – Joint List and Ra’am – which won a record of 19 seats.

Netanyahu bloc vs Eisenkot bloc | A breakdown

The bloc led by incumbent PM Netanyahu consists of –

Likud Party

United Torah Judaism (UTJ)

Otzma Yehudit

Shas

Religious Zionism

The bloc led by Gadi Eisenkot comprises of –

Yashar

B’Yachad

The Democrats

Yisrael Beytenu

Arab parties ‘kingmakers’?

With Arab parties securing 19 seats, a record win for them, the Joint List alliance and Ra’am parties became a significant part of the elections. These 19 Arab seats could take the Netanyahu or Eisenkot blocs over the 61-seat majority mark. However, a coalition with Arab parties will not be easy.

An anti-Arab veto limits the parties. This informal veto refers to the reluctance of Jewish-led political parties to form a coalition with Arab-led factions. This was also reflected in the Netanyahu-led bloc’s move to bar Arab parties such as the Joint List and Ra’am from contesting the elections, a decision later struck down by the Supreme Court.

For Netanyahu, who is facing the ultimate test, a coalition with Arab parties may help him secure another term amid the ongoing wars and a corruption trial. However, the incumbent has stated that a coalition with Arab parties would be “a shame and disgrace.”

Furthermore, teaming up with Arab parties could be an anathema to Jewish-led parties after the October 7, 2023, attacks by Hamas.

Coalition talks and the timeline

After the November 4 results, the bloc will begin coalition talks as none were able to reach the majority mark of 61 seats. Soon after the results are announced, Israeli president Isaac Herzog is expected to begin consultations. Delegations from every party that won seats visit the President’s residence in Jerusalem and say whom they recommend for prime minister.

The president has seven days from the publication of the official election results to complete consultations and assign the task of forming a government under Israeli law. Results on November 4 mean that parties have a November 11 deadline to stake their claim.

Once a candidate for prime minister is named, the Basic Law sets all deadlines, and Netanyahu remains caretaker leader until a new government wins a confidence vote. However, if all routes fail, Israel could see another snap vote to break the deadlock.

Israel election results 2026 LIVE: Can Israel’s Arab parties join the coaltion government?

Israel election results 2026 LIVE: After last week’s vote in Israel, Arab parties – Joint List and Ra’am – emerged as key players after securing a combined 19 seats.

With their 19 seats, the Arab parties could push the opposition bloc led by Eisenkot beyond the 61 mark.

However, the road is tough for them due to an informal anti-Arab veto adopted by Israeli Jewish parties.

While the “Change” bloc has pledged not to join forces with Netanyahu, citing security failures that led to the October 7 Hamas attacks and an ongoing corruption trial that the prime minister faces, joining hands with Arab parties may be a challenge to Eisenkot.

But, if Eisenkot wishes to oust Netanyahu, then teaming up with the Arab parties is the only way through. The Eisenkot bloc can also form a minority government with external support from the Joint List and Ra’am, which will secure its position as the government during a no-confidence vote after deliberations take place.

Israel elections 2026 LIVE: Israel’s official election results are set to be published on Wednesday and handed to President Isaac Herzog, triggering the process that will determine who gets the first chance to form the next government.

The Central Elections Committee, on which the outgoing Netanyahu bloc is in majority, is set to convene at 9am local time to finalise the results.

Once the results are finalized, the Committee chairman Noam Sohlberg, the deputy president of the Supreme Court, will deliver them to Herzog at the President’s Residence at noon.

Israel election results 2026 LIVE: Can Netanyahu form the government?

Israel election results 2026 LIVE: There are three scenarios in which Netanyahu can continue as prime minister of Israel –

Scenario 1 – Unity government under Netanyahu

Likud governs with Yashar, B’Yachad and Yisrael Beytenu, with Netanyahu as prime minister. Otzma Yehudit, Religious Zionism, the ultra-Orthodox and the Arab parties stay out. The Times of Israel describes these four as the centre-right parties that together won a substantial share of seats.

Scenario 2 – Unity government with Netanyahu first in a rotation

Netanyahu and Eisenkot would take turns as prime minister, with Netanyahu going first. There are two versions. According to Ynetnews, Likud would share power with the whole change bloc. In a version briefed to the Jerusalem Post by people close to Netanyahu, Eisenkot takes over after about two years, and the government starts with just Likud, Otzma Yehudit, Religious Zionism and Yashar. The ultra-Orthodox parties would join only after it passes a military-service law. That line-up adds up to exactly 61 seats, and it is the one shown on the chart.

Scenario 3 – Netanyahu forms the government with defectors from the Change bloc.

In this scenario, Netanyahu keeps his alliance and lures at least eight lawmakers away from the opposition, mainly from Eisenkot’s Yashar. Likud has reportedly set up a special team to persuade them. This route also needs UTJ to stay put. Its loyalty is in doubt. UTJ sources say the alliance with Netanyahu has run its course, and the party wants a draft-exemption law before it commits to any government.

Lastly, if no government is formed after deliberations with the President, Netanyahu will stay on as the caretaker prime minister till a fresh vote is conducted.
