Global demand for Maruti e Vitara! 50,000 units exported; reached 50 countriesZoom

Maruti e Vitara has crossed the export mark of 50,000 units.

Maruti Suzuki India has crossed the milestone of 50,000 units in cumulative exports of its made-in-India electric cars since starting global shipments in August 2025. The company’s first global battery electric model Maruti e Vitara is being manufactured at the Hansalpur plant in Gujarat and has so far been sent to about 50 countries.

Europe remains the biggest export market for the company, while there is also good demand in UK, Norway, Germany, Japan and Switzerland. Maruti Suzuki recorded about 93 percent share in India’s electric passenger vehicle exports during April-September 2026, based on SIAM data. The company was India’s largest EV exporter in FY2025-26 and retained this position in the first half of FY2026-27 also.

Good demand for Maruti e Vitara

The e Vitara is Suzuki’s first global battery electric vehicle, produced exclusively at its Hansalpur facility. With the start of production in August 2025, international shipments will also begin. The model was developed for sale in more than 100 countries, of which about 50 countries have been reached so far. Europe got cars first and is still the biggest market.

Market Share and Leadership

Maruti Suzuki contributed about 93 percent of India’s total electric passenger vehicle exports in April-September 2026. The company was the largest EV exporter in FY2025-26 and retained this rank in the first half of the current financial year as well. Besides, it has also been a leader in passenger vehicle export for a long time.

Role of Hansalpur Plant

The Hansalpur facility is the sole manufacturing unit of Suzuki’s first global BEV. Recently its annual production capacity was increased to one million vehicles, a first for any single Suzuki facility. This plant remains the center of the company’s export strategy.

What did the company say?

Managing Director and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi said that the production of e Vitara was initiated by the Prime Minister in the context of ‘Make in India’. Today the company is exporting EVs to about 50 countries, of which Europe is the biggest destination. This achievement reflects India’s manufacturing capacity and competitiveness in the international market.
