10 Useless Car Features in India: While buying a new car, high-tech features like sunroof, wireless charger and ADAS attract a lot. But are these features really useful in daily driving or just increase the price of the car? Some modern features can also cause problems due to Indian weather, traffic and bad roads. Know 10 such features of cars, which are very important to understand their usefulness and disadvantages before buying.

Sunroof: Sunroof is the least useful feature in terms of Indian weather. There is scorching heat, intense sunlight and dusty environment in the country for most of the months of the year, due to which it is not possible to open it. On top of that, many people ignore safety rules and take children out of it. The problem of its maintenance and leakage becomes a separate headache.

Wireless Phone Charger: In-built wireless chargers found in cars often cause more trouble than they do. They charge the phone very slowly and cause the smartphone to overheat rapidly in the hot temperatures of India. Unless it has active cooling, a fast USB cable proves to be a safer and faster option.

Auto Engine Start-Stop: This system, which comes with the claim of increasing mileage, becomes a huge annoyance in Indian bumper-to-bumper traffic. The automatic switching off of the engine every few seconds and restarting as soon as the clutch or accelerator is pressed is jarring. The biggest problem is that as soon as the engine stops, the AC compressor cuts off and the cabin starts heating up immediately.

Voice Commands: Companies present voice commands as a high-tech feature, but it hardly works accurately in actual driving. The system often misinterprets commands due to Indian accent and external road noise. Operating the AC or sunroof by voice distracts the driver more than pressing a button or turning a dial.

Some features of ADAS: ADAS, made for disciplined traffic of foreign countries, sometimes becomes dangerous in the uncertain conditions of Indian roads. Lane-keep steering starts dragging on roads without lane marking. At the same time, due to sudden application of auto emergency braking, the risk of collision with the vehicle coming from behind increases, due to which people keep it switched off.

Touch-Based AC Controls: To give a modern and clean look to the dashboard, removing physical buttons and giving touch panel is a big flop trend. While driving, it becomes impossible to set the temperature or blower speed without taking your eyes off the road. Lack of tactile feel of the physical knob increases the risk of an accident while driving.

Flush Door Handles: Flush door handles look premium and aerodynamic, but are quite impractical in daily use. Due to accumulation of dust and dirt, their motor mechanism may malfunction. Apart from this, at the time of any emergency or accident, it becomes difficult to quickly open the door from outside and make a grip.

Large alloy wheels with low-profile tyres: Although big wheels and thin tires may give the car a sporty look, they are extremely harmful on Indian potholes, speed breakers and broken roads. These make the suspension stiff and the ride quality deteriorates. Also, there is a high risk of tire burst and alloy wheel bending due to strong shock in potholes.

Paddle Shifters in Low-Power Cars: The real fun of paddle shifters comes in high-performance and responsive sports cars. But these make no sense in normal budget cars with 1.0 or 1.2 liter engines or sluggish CVT/AMT gearboxes. Due to lack of instant punch in the engine, manual control is not felt and buyers never use it.

Gesture Control: Gesture control to change songs or increase or decrease the volume with hand gestures is purely a show-off gimmick. This feature often mistakes even simple hand movements of the driver or passenger as a command, or does not respond properly even to repeated gestures. Steering mounted controls are much better and safer.
