Dhanteras Car Sales: Vehicle companies say that this year about 1 lakh vehicles have been sold on the occasion of Dhanteras. Maruti Suzuki sold the maximum number of cars, followed by Hyundai at second place and Tata Motors at third place. Maruti has claimed to have delivered around 30 thousand vehicles. Companies hope that after the wall, the demand may remain like this till Wednesday.
Maruti delivered 30 thousand vehicles on Dhanteras.
New Delhi. This year, there was tremendous activity in the market on Dhanteras and people bought vehicles in large numbers. In the passenger vehicle segment, Maruti once again became the market leader and showed why customers still have faith in it. Car companies have estimated that around 1 lakh vehicles have been delivered on Dhanteras and revenue of Rs 10 thousand crore has been generated in a single day. This figure appears to be much higher than the total vehicle sales on Dhanteras last year.
This year, on Dhanteras, there was a huge craze in vehicle sales in North India, while it remained a bit sluggish in South India. A senior industry official said that positive signals from consumers were seen in almost every state of the country. During this period, about 1 lakh vehicles were delivered, which is more than last year’s Dhanteras in 2025. If the average price of a vehicle is kept at Rs 10 to 12 lakh, then it is believed that sales worth Rs 10 to 12 thousand crore have been made on the occasion of Dhanteras.
Maruti remained the market leader
Maruti Suzuki once again left other companies behind in terms of selling vehicles. The company estimates that about 30 thousand vehicles have been sold on Dhanteras this year. The company’s senior executive officer Partho Banerjee says that last year in 2025, the company had sold about 51 thousand vehicles in the two days of Dhanteras. Hyundai CEO Tarun Garg said that this year around 16 thousand vehicles are expected to be sold on Dhanteras. This figure will be about 14 percent more than last year.
Tata Motors third big player
Tata also sold a lot of vehicles on the occasion of Dhanteras. Tata Chief Commercial Officer Amit Kamat said that there was tremendous enthusiasm from customers on Dhanteras and about 12 thousand vehicles were delivered in a single day. Currently, due to Diwali auspicious time, the delivery will continue till Wednesday next week and it is expected that the enthusiasm of the customers will remain the same in future also. The atmosphere of Diwali will continue till Bhai Dooj and considering the auspicious time, the sales of vehicles are expected to increase.
