Sri Lanka thumped Pakistan by eight wickets at the Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin on Sunday to enter the final of the women’s cricket event at the Asian Games 2026.
Skipper Chamari Athapaththu powered the chase with a sparkling unbeaten 83 as Sri Lanka wiped off Pakistan’s 179-run target with 13 balls to spare.
Sri Lanka will now face the winner of the second semifinal between India and Bangladesh.
Earlier, after losing the toss, Pakistan found its batting rhythm through fifties from Shawaal Zulfiqar and Ayesha Zafar. They put on a 115-run stand for the third wicket, recording the second-biggest partnership for Pakistan in women T20Is.
The Lankan chase was initially driven by opener Imesha Dulani and No.3 batter Hasini Perera, before Athapaththu took charge.
The left-handed batter cracked seven fours and six sixes to power her team to a second consecutive Asian Games final.
