The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)-appointed three-member selection panel has named a 15-member Arunachal Pradesh squad for the next three matches of the Ranji Trophy 2026-27 season, with Neelam Obi appointed captain and Kamsha Yangfo vice-captain.
Former Assam cricketer Sujay Tarafdar will coach the side.
Salil Malhotra has been included as a guest player in the squad, which also features Nabam Kama, Licha Jhon, Myendung Singpo, Techi Doria, Biki Kumar, Mibom Mosu, Yorjum Sera, Yab Niya, Nabam Tempol, Techi Neri, Likha Sonia and Nabam Dol.
The squad announcement comes in the wake of the administrative turmoil that led to Arunachal forfeiting its Ranji Trophy Plate Group opener against Nagaland amid a legal dispute within the state association. The development, first reported by Sportstar, marked the first forfeiture in the Ranji Trophy in 17 years.
The BCCI subsequently stepped in to oversee the selection process, citing the interests of the players. An independent three-member selection committee comprising former Assam cricketers Satya Gopal Chakraborty, Jayanta Chowdhury and Deep Borah was constituted, with Chakraborty as chairman. BCCI Apex Council member M. K. Khairul Jamal Majumdar was appointed convener of the selection process.
With the independent panel naming the squad for the first three matches, Arunachal will look to move past the off-field uncertainty and focus on its Ranji Trophy campaign.
