The technology of Indian deep-tech company RayVector Technologies is also attracting attention at SEMICON. Wafer Handling Technology has been demonstrated by the company through Multi Sensor Module. Now understand it in simple language. Chakraborty Elumalai, CTO of RayVector Technologies, told News 18 India that wafer is very important in making semiconductors.

It contains many chips. The price of a wafer can start from around $2,000 and go up to thousands of dollars. In such a situation, if a small defect in the wafer is not caught in time during manufacturing, the loss can be huge. RayVector’s technology claims that its sensor systems can rapidly detect even the smallest defects in the wafer and provide early warning.

Potential losses worth crores will be saved

According to the company, if any major problem is not detected in time, the entire manufacturing unit may have to be closed and production may be affected for several days. In such a situation, the loss can reach crores of rupees. That means here a small sensor module can play a role in preventing a possible loss worth crores.

Big companies expressed confidence

Chakraborty Elumalai claims that companies like Samsung, Intel and TSMC are using his technology. India’s strength is not only in chip making but also in chip design. The presence of companies like RayVector indicates that India’s semiconductor story is not limited to just setting up chip factories. Efforts are being made to create a complete ecosystem by connecting all these areas like chip design, sensors, imaging, AI, testing, equipment and software.

Prime Minister Modi also said in his speech that India’s aim is to increase fabless companies and create chip-related intellectual property in India. Work is also being increased on technologies required for compound semiconductor, silicon photonics and AI.

If AI comes then the need for chips will increase further.

The increasing use of AI has further increased the importance of semiconductors. Thousands of high-performance processors work together in an AI data center. The more AI is used, the more computing power will be required. More computing means more chips, more data and more power.

This is the reason why now the chip race is not limited to just smaller and faster transistors. Bringing the memory closer to the processor, making multiple chips work simultaneously, transferring data faster and controlling heat and power consumption are also big challenges.

India’s biggest strength is its young engineers.

India’s biggest strength in this entire chip revolution is its young talent. Prime Minister Modi said that the government has set a target of training 1 lakh engineering students for the semiconductor industry and more than 70 thousand youth have already been trained.

This means that India is not only preparing to set up a factory, but is also emphasizing on preparing a new generation of people who will design and develop these chips and technologies in the future.
