Government telecom company BSNL is preparing to start Intra Circle Roaming (ICR) in many parts of the country. Its purpose is to solve the network problem. But let us understand in detail what is intra circle roaming, what will be its benefits and will people of other networks also be able to take advantage of it.
BSNL customers sometimes face problems due to lack of network. Now this complaint of yours is going to be resolved. BSNL is starting intra circle roaming service in 12 to 13 telecom circles across the country. After its implementation, BSNL customers will be able to use the networks of other operators in those places where BSNL does not have its own tower or coverage.
Deal almost final
According to the information given by the government, this agreement of BSNL with other telecom companies is almost finalized and the official signing of this deal is expected soon.
What is intra circle roaming?
Normally when you go out of your state, your phone goes on roaming and it connects to another network. But intra circle roaming means that you are using roaming within your own state or your own circle.
Suppose you are in Delhi circle and you have a BSNL SIM. You go to some area of Delhi where BSNL tower is not working or there is no coverage. If BSNL has an ICR agreement with any other company, your phone signal will not disappear. Your phone will automatically connect to the network of that other company and you will be able to make calls and use the internet without any interruption.
Will BSNL customers get benefits on other networks also?
- Absolutely. This is the biggest advantage of this agreement. Customers will not even realize that their phone has moved from BSNL network to some other network. This process happens automatically in the background.
- Where BSNL signal is weak, the phone will switch to another partner network, which will eliminate the problem of call disconnection.
- In rural and remote areas where there are towers of only one or two companies, BSNL customers will also be able to enjoy high-speed internet and calling through ICR.
- The most important thing is that customers will not have to pay any extra money for this. This will be a mutual commercial agreement between two telecom companies.
Will become a lifesaver in times of disaster
ICR proves to be the biggest weapon to save people’s lives during natural disasters. In July, the Department of Telecommunications had said that there was devastation in Jammu and Kashmir, Assam and Nagaland due to heavy rains, cloud bursts and landslides. The communication network had come to a complete standstill. Then the emergency response mechanism was activated and all telecom operators were ordered to immediately implement ICR in the affected areas. It has been implemented in Poonch and Rajouri districts of Jammu and Kashmir, Sivasagar, Charaideo and Jorhat districts of Assam and Mon district of Nagaland.
How does ICR work in a disaster?
When DoT activates ICR in an emergency, commercial agreements between companies do not matter. Mobile subscribers of any company in the affected area can connect to any other available network. Suppose the towers of BSNL and Jio fell in the landslide, but the tower of Airtel is safe. So as soon as ICR is implemented, the phones of BSNL and Jio customers will also be automatically connected to Airtel’s network. This provides a lot of help to the affected residents and the teams running the rescue. They don’t lose contact.
How to use ICR in phone if there is no network?
Be it a new feature of BSNL or any natural disaster, if the network in your phone is lost and ICR facility is available, then you should make these settings in your smartphone. Go to your phone’s settings and make sure the option for automatic network selection is turned on. If it is on then the phone will automatically find the best available network.
If the automatic fails
- If your phone is not catching the network automatically, you can do it yourself.
- First of all go to the Settings of the phone.
- After this tap on Mobile Network or Connections.
- Select the option of network operator there.
- After this the phone will search and show the names of all the companies present in that area on the screen.
- Whatever network you see available, click on it and select it manually. Your phone will be registered with that network and you will be able to make calls or messages.
