Shubman Gill has credited the fielding effort from Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as a key part of India’s victory over New Zealand in the first ODI on Wednesday.
“We were very good with the bowling, and our fielding was also really good. That run-out by Rohit bhai, I think, changed the momentum of the game,” Gill said.
The captain was also full of praise for Anshul Kamboj, who rose to the occasion and delivered with excellent figures (10-2-22-2) to help get New Zealand all out for just 185.
“Anshul is the kind of a bowler… I think he’s tailor-made for these conditions, always nippy, trying to seam the ball, and good with the old ball,” he said at the post-match presentation.

However, Gill did admit that the rain made it difficult for the Indian batsmen to carry their momentum.
“It’s never easy when you are set, and then it rains, and the wicket gets a little bit quick, it gets a little bit more nippy after the rain,” he said.
India has taken a 1-0 lead in the five-match series against New Zealand; the second ODI is on Saturday.
