If you are planning to buy Kia Sonet then it may be beneficial to wait a little. The company is preparing to introduce this popular SUV in a completely new avatar in 2027. Many major changes can be seen in the new Sonet, which was recently spotted during testing in Himachal, from split LED headlights to dual screen and ADAS. Know what will be special in the new Sonet and when will it be launched.

Next-generation Kia Sonet was recently spotted during high-altitude testing. This test mule seen in the Himalayas was wrapped in heavy camouflage, yet the new LED lighting setup is clearly visible. This is not just a facelift, but a complete generational update. Kia India is preparing to launch this compact SUV in 2027. The new model will likely be based on the K1 platform, which will bring improvements in space, safety and structural rigidity.
The split headlight design, LED DRL at the top and main headlamp at the bottom are clearly visible in the spy shots. A new tail light signature is also visible at the rear. New LED lighting and front design
The most special thing in the spy shots is the front lighting system. The headlights are now in a split design. The main headlamps are placed at the bottom while the LED daytime running lights (DRLs) are placed at the top. This design seems to be inspired by the latest global SUV lineup. The bonnet appears to be clamshell style and the front fascia is completely new. The doors are also angular and revised.
Rear design and exterior changes
A new tail light signature is visible at the rear, which does not seem connected. The high-mount stop lamp is also wider than the current model. Newly designed alloy wheels (possibly 17 or 18 inches), updated rear view mirrors, front-rear parking sensors, 360-degree camera and a dedicated camera for ADAS are also seen. There is also a possibility of getting Level-2 ADAS.
Platform, Interior and Features
The new Sonet is going to shift to the K1 platform, which will improve space and safety. Dual 12.3-inch screen dashboard is expected to be available in the interior. Expected features include front-rear ventilated seats, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, wireless charger, powered driver seat, advanced telematics and better rear seat space.
Powertrain and launch
The powertrain is expected to remain the same as the current model. It can be purchased with 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, 1.0-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre turbo diesel. These powertrains come with manual and automatic gearbox. The launch is likely to take place in 2027. The price may be kept slightly higher than the current model.
