The facelift version of Volkswagen Virtus has once again been spotted testing. This time, some spy shots captured on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway give a closer glimpse of this updated sedan. The company recently introduced the anniversary edition of the Virtus, while its sister sibling Skoda Slavia has already received a mid-cycle update.

The new Skoda Slavia is going to reach showrooms by the end of this month, so the new avatar of Virtus may be launched next month or around the festive season. Considering the decline in sales, this update will prove to be very important for the company. Let’s take a look at the details from possible design to its engine and performance.

possible design

In the latest spy shots, a large part of the test mule is seen exposed. There is camouflage on the front and rear only. At the front, the bonnet and proportions are familiar, but the headlights, grille and bumper areas are covered. Revised LED lighting signature, new grille design and updated bumper are expected. At the rear, the boot and bumper are completely camouflaged. The illuminated tail lamp features a distinct internal LED signature, consisting of two horizontal elements. The side profile will remain almost unchanged.

Interior, Features and Safety

Due to the engine and architecture being shared with Slavia, many upgrades can also come to the Virtus. Expected features include an upgraded 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, new infotainment system, 360-degree camera and additional convenience equipment. The variant-wise feature list will be clear at launch. There may be an emphasis on further improving the existing standards in safety features.

Engine and Performance

The 1.0-litre TSI engine will produce around 115 PS and 178 Newton-metre torque. The 1.5-litre TSI will be available with 150 PS and 250 Newton-metres mated to a 7-speed DSG. The biggest change is the new 8-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox for the 1.0-litre engine, which will replace the existing 6-speed. This transmission has already come in the group’s India 2.0 products.

Overall, the 2026 Virtus facelift will bring improvements in design, features and driving experience. Its hold in the segment is expected to become stronger with the festive season launch.
