Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric will make its entry on November 4.

Mercedes-Benz is going to launch its new electric SUV GLC Electric in India on 4 November 2026. This model will be locally assembled at the company’s Chakan plant (Pune) and will reach India within just six months of the global launch, which is believed to be the fastest launch in CKD form for Mercedes. Booking is scheduled to start in the first week of October. In India, it will initially be available only in GLC 400 4-Matic variant.

Equipped with a 94 KWH battery pack and dual-motor all-wheel drive, this SUV claims a range of up to 715 kilometers on the WLTP cycle. Despite weighing around 2.5 tonnes, this car, which completes 0-100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds, will become a strong contender in the luxury electric SUV segment. The estimated price is expected to be between Rs 80 to 90 lakh (ex-showroom). This model will be sold along with the existing ICE GLC and will help the company in strengthening its EV portfolio.

Design and dimensions

The new GLC electric Mercedes adopts a new design language. There is a star-pattern LED light signature and a large illuminated grille at the front. At the rear, star-shaped LED tail lamps are attached to the gloss-black trim. The standard wheelbase is 2,972 mm (the Chinese long-wheelbase version will not come to India). Length is approximately 4,845 mm, width is 1,913 mm and height is 1,644 mm. Rear-wheel steering will be standard, which increases maneuverability at low speeds.

Interior and Features

The biggest highlight of the cabin is the 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen, which combines the driver display, central touchscreen and passenger screen together. The new MBUX system comes with AI assistant. Physical buttons and knobs have been brought back on the steering wheel and center console. Boot space is 570 litres, which increases to 1,740 liters when the seats are folded. Luggage space is also available in the front.

Safety and powertrain

Mercedes’ advanced driver assistance system and structural safety features will be available. The powertrain consists of a 94 KWH NMC battery and dual electric motors, which together produce around 489-490 bhp and 800 Newton-meter torque. All-wheel drive is standard. Top speed is 210 km/hr.

Supports 330 kW DC fast charging with 800-volt architecture. There is a claim of charging from 10 to 80 percent in 22 minutes and adding about 300 kilometers of range in 10 minutes. This will strengthen Mercedes’ EV focus in India and will compete with rivals like the BMW ix3 long wheelbase.
