Jaguar Type 01 EV unveiled, price of Rs 1.1 crore and absolutely unique designZoom

Jaguar Type 01 has been unveiled in the US market.

Jaguar Land Rover has unveiled its new all-electric luxury car Type 01 in New York. This four-door GT car is equipped with ultra-long bonnet, no rear window and advanced technology. Its ex-showroom price starts from $ 1,30,500. Owned by India’s Tata Motors, the British luxury carmaker is focusing on growth prospects in the US market.

Amid competition from Chinese cars in Europe, tariff costs and geo-political constraints, Jaguar is targeting American buyers, especially tech millionaires. This step is part of the company’s strategy to shift its entire lineup to electric. Let us know about the details from its design to performance.

Car design and features

The design of the Type 01 is inspired by the classic E-Type sports cars of the 1960s, which are still treasured by collectors. This is the next phase of the bright pink Type 00 concept car introduced in 2024, which was part of the brand relaunch. The car is available in minimal and muted shades.

Bet on the US market

The enthusiasm for electric vehicles in America is less than in Europe, so this high-priced model is risky. Nevertheless, Jaguar Land Rover is emphasizing on the American customer base to meet the challenges of Europe.

Company’s current challenges

Jaguar Land Rover is recovering from a cyber attack last year, which halted production. Under the turnaround plan, the company will lay off about 10 percent of its employees in the next two years. There are plans to convert the entire lineup into EVs. However, some industry experts believe that wealthy buyers are not ready to give up petrol engines yet.

Attitude of luxury brands

Ferrari’s first EV was criticized because it looked different from conventional models. Bentley has introduced its first EV, while Lamborghini has decided not to make an EV until the end of the decade. McLaren has also said that customers have shown no interest in abandoning the petrol model.
