The demand for CNG cars is continuously increasing in the Indian market and now Mahindra is also going to enter this segment. The company’s most affordable SUV XUV 3XO will soon be introduced with factory-fitted CNG option. With this launch scheduled for October 15, 2026, Mahindra will offer a factory-fitted CNG model in a passenger vehicle for the first time. Earlier, the company had offered CNG kit in some commercial models and old passenger cars, but this will be the first such offer in the current lineup.
Mahindra XUV 3XO is already available in petrol, diesel and electric variants. After the addition of CNG, it will join the limited number of models in the compact SUV segment with four powertrains. Vehicles like Tata Nexon and Maruti Brezza are already offering CNG option in the market. In such a situation, this step of Mahindra can attract buyers who want low running cost and SUV style. The price and specifications are going to be revealed at the time of launch only.
When will it be launched?
The debut of Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG is scheduled for October 15. The company has confirmed this by releasing a teaser. This is important for Mahindra, because their presence in the CNG segment has been limited. This step may also prove beneficial in view of the stricter emission norms in the coming years.
Engine and Performance
The CNG variant is most likely to use the 1.2 liter MPFI turbo-petrol engine. In petrol mode this engine produces around 110-111 horse power. Power and torque are expected to be slightly lower on CNG, as is seen in most CNG models. The gearbox has not been confirmed yet, but a manual transmission is a possibility.

The price of petrol variant starts from around Rs 7.79 lakh (ex-showroom). A premium of around Rs 1 lakh may be charged on the CNG model. According to this, the starting price can be around Rs 8.30 to 8.80 lakh. Final pricing will be known on the day of launch only.
Competition and boot space
This CNG SUV is going to compete directly with Tata Nexon iCNG and Maruti Suzuki Brezza S-CNG. The arrangement of CNG cylinder can be single or twin. Boot space may be affected, as the luggage area of the XUV 3XO is already smaller in the segment.

Exact information about variants, mileage claim, features and CNG kit is not available yet. All these figures will be revealed after the launch. Due to low running cost, this model can be especially liked in cities.
