Renault India has once again created a stir in the market with the new avatar of its popular SUV Duster. The company has declared an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 29 kmpl for the strong hybrid E-Tech 160 variant, which is one of the best figures in the segment. This model is part of Renault’s future ready roadmap and is the company’s first e-tech strong hybrid model in India. This system offers a smart combination of petrol engine and electric motors without the need for external charging.
The official unveiling of this bookable model is scheduled for 17 October 2026. Booking for buyers has already started. Duster has always been known for its rough and tough image, but the new model has come with modern design, premium interior and advanced features. It will become a center of special attraction for those buyers who want a balance of high mileage, performance and features.
The highest mileage SUV will be made
In terms of mileage, Renault Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 has achieved a figure of 29 km per liter under ARAI certification. This figure is better than the 27.97 km/litre of Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyrider Hybrid. The company has started booking from October 9, 2026 at a token amount of Rs 21,000. Booking can be done through the official website or authorized dealership. Full disclosure and price will be announced on October 17.
Design and dimensions
Talking about design, the new Duster comes with a muscular and modern look. This includes full LED lighting, wide wheel arches, 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and high ground clearance (212 mm). The horizontal light bar at the rear and the sculpted body make it more attractive.
Cabin and Comfort
The interior has a fighter-jet inspired driver-centric layout. It has a 10.1 inch OpenR Link touchscreen (with Google built-in), 10.25 inch digital driver display, leatherette upholstery, yellow stitching and carbon-finish trims. Features include panoramic sunroof, ventilated and electrically adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control, powered tailgate, wireless charging and connected car technology.
In terms of safety, it has 6 airbags, ESC, ABS with EBD and 17 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) like adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist and automatic emergency braking.
Powertrain and performance
Talking about the engine, the combination of 1.8 liter petrol engine with two electric motors and 1.4 kWh battery gives a combined power of 160 PS. Multi-mode transmission manages petrol and electric power according to driving conditions. Up to 80 percent electric driving has been claimed in the city. Overall, this model will offer an excellent package of efficiency, performance and modern features.
