The Delhi Police on Sunday released a video showing officers offering assistance to Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke, who was detained for nearly 24 hours, after learning that his grandmother had died. This comes after Dipke claimed he was not being allowed to speak to his family during detention.
The video, which has audio, shows a police officer asking Dipke whether he wanted to travel to be with his family, Neha Yadav, DCP PRO, said. The officer tells him that the police could arrange transport by bus, plane or train, or any other mode he preferred.
The officer, in the video, also asks Dipke if he would like to speak to his father. Dipke responds that he would not be able to speak to his father at that point.
The video was shared amid the ongoing controversy over the detention of CJP leaders while trying to protest demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation over alleged SIR ‘irregularities’.
