Sanchar Saathi Portal: Sanchar Saathi Portal was started in May 2023. Till now there have been more than 30 crore visits on it. This portal is very useful in preventing fraud and cyber crime. So far, more than 14 lakh lost or stolen mobiles have been returned to their owners through this portal.

New Delhi. If your smartphone has fallen somewhere or has been stolen in the crowd, then there is no need to sit in despair. The Sanchar Saathi portal of the Government of India is proving to be a trouble-shooter for the common citizens. According to the latest data of the Central Government, with the help of this portal, till now more than 14 lakh lost and stolen mobile phones have been recovered and returned to their rightful owners. Since its launch in May 2023, this digital platform has crossed the historical figure of more than 30 crore visits.

According to the ministry, people can lodge complaints about suspicious calls, SMS and WhatsApp messages on the Sanchar Sathi portal. Apart from this, on this portal, users can check the details of mobile connections issued in their name, block lost or stolen mobile phones and also verify the authenticity of the mobile before purchasing it. Not only this, every complaint filed by citizens generates useful intelligence for the Department of Telecommunications, banks and law enforcement agencies.

Do this as soon as your phone is stolen

As soon as your phone is lost or stolen, after informing the police, go directly to Sancharsaathi portal (sancharsaathi.gov.in). As soon as the phone’s IMEI number is entered on the portal, the handset is immediately blocked on all telecom networks across the country. Once it is blocked, the thief cannot use it by inserting any other SIM in that device. As soon as any new activity occurs in that phone, the system tracks it immediately.

37.85 lakh mobiles traced

Till now, 60.96 lakh lost or stolen phones have been blocked in the country through Sanchar Sathi portal, out of which 37.85 lakh mobiles were successfully traced and more than 14 lakh handsets were recovered through the joint efforts of telecom companies and state police. The ministry said that the information received from citizens’ complaints also strengthens the Financial Fraud Risk Indicator (FRI) system. This system assesses the risk of mobile numbers that may be linked to financial fraud.
