AI is no longer limited to just answering questions. Now work is being done on such AI agents, which can complete many tasks on behalf of the user. In this direction, a former Apple engineer who worked on Apple Intelligence and Siri has launched a new AI agent. Its name is szn and it will be able to do many things for the user through iMessage.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, szn has been created by Nikhil Gupta. Gupta has previously worked at Apple on projects related to Apple Intelligence and Siri. This new service is expected to be launched in October.
szn will work differently from chatbot
Typical AI chatbots answer user questions, but szn is designed as an AI agent. That means it will also be able to work on behalf of the user. The user can ask it to do some work by interacting with it in iMessage.
This AI agent will be able to browse websites, make online purchases and contact vendors to complete the work as needed. This means that the user may have less need to open different websites or apps for any work.
The szn will also have its own name, email address and phone number. With its help, the AI agent will be able to send messages to other people on behalf of the user and reply to their replies. In this way it will work like a virtual personal assistant inside iMessage.
Will also work with other features of Apple
According to the report, a separate app for SZN will also be made available in future. Every customer will get a different AI model. Apart from this, Nikhil Gupta says that personal data of users will not be used for training the AI model.
SZN is also designed to work with some other Apple services. It can collaborate in shared Apple Notes, access locations in Find My, and even work with files stored in iCloud. The special thing is that the user will not need to leave the iMessage conversation for these tasks.
Can become a challenge for Apple
However, SZN may also face some challenges. Apple has previously imposed restrictions on third-party apps that rely on the iMessage platform. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see how Apple reacts to using iMessage as the interface of this new AI agent.
In the growing era of AI agents, SZN’s approach is a little different. Its focus is on getting the actual work done on behalf of the user rather than just responding, with messaging being the main interface.
