India continued their rapid climb up the medal tally at the 2026 Asian Games, winning a host of gold medals on Day 14 on Friday. India won six gold medals, taking their gold tally to 16 and moving to fifth, above Thailand.
The Indian women’s hockey team ended a drought of 44 years to win their first gold since 1982. Prior to that, in just two minutes, Sujeet Kalkal in wrestling and Ankush Panghal in men’s 80kg boxing won their respective gold medal bouts to give India their 14th and 15th gold.
Earlier, India’s gold count reached 13 after the Indian women’s recurve team etched history by winning a never-before gold medal, upsetting powerhouses South Korea in the final, and boxers Lovlina Borgohain and Parveen Hooda winning a gold each in the women’s 75kg and 65kg categories.

The trio of Ankita Bhakat, Kirti and Kumkum Anil Mohod started the day with a gold. Kumkum followed it up with a silver medal, which she won in the mixed team recurve event alongside Dhiraj Bommadevara.
The trio of Dhiraj, Neeraj Chauhan and Yashdeep Bhoge also won a silver after losing to South Korea in the men’s team recurve final.
Malemnganba Singh Sorokhaibam, Ram Kumar Sharma, Bobby Kumar and Akash Yumnam won a bronze in the Sepaktakraw men’s quadrant team event after losing to Japan in the semifinal.
Nethra Kumanan also won a bronze in women’s dinghy sailing. India are now fifth in the medal tally with 16 gold, 25 silver and 35 bronze for a total of 76 medals on Friday.

Earlier on Day 13, India had added 6 medals, 2 silver and four bronze, to finish the day with 66 medals.
