Beijing/New Delhi: China has implemented an 18-point plan to save the jobs being lost due to Artificial Intelligence. The General Office of the State Council has issued strict guidelines for all companies. Under this, companies will have to do a complete assessment of the impact on employees before adopting AI. Companies have been prohibited from giving advance notice to affected workers. Along with this, give them full help in shifting to other jobs by training them in new work. The aim of the government is to make the country’s growth model employment-friendly so that the common man does not become unemployed amid the tech boom. This step has been taken at a time when automation is rapidly replacing humans in factories and offices.

What is the new rule of unemployment buffer period for companies?

The most important part of this 18-point plan is the provision of ‘unemployment buffer period’. reuters According to the report, the government has said that whenever any company implements AI system on a large scale, it will be mandatory to give it this buffer period. During this time, the management will have to warn its employees in time.

The company will not be allowed to fire anyone suddenly. During this period, employees will be given a chance to learn new technology. They will have to plan to transfer them to other departments within the company. If there is no space in the company, the worker will have to be helped in finding a job elsewhere.

In which sectors there is a ban on the use of AI?

According to the guidelines, it has been asked to adopt a very cautious approach towards implementing AI in labor intensive sectors. Instructions have been given to ban indiscriminate automation in fields like textile, manufacturing and construction. The government has said that the pace and scale of implementing technology in these sectors should be fixed so that a large population does not become unemployed in one fell swoop.

In projects which can have a major impact on jobs, employment risk assessment will have to be done first. The concerned government departments will completely monitor these companies. On the contrary, in places where there is hazardous work and where there is a severe shortage of labour, AI has been given priority.

What is the government preparation for reskilling of youth and workers?

China The government has drawn up a blueprint for large-scale reskilling for the new opportunities arising from AI. Universities and vocational colleges have been instructed to immediately change their old courses.

Those who have lost their jobs will be given financial assistance to get a new job, career guidance and start their own business.
