Pakistan has been fined five per cent of its match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate during the final of the ODI Tri-Series against Sri Lanka in Lahore on Saturday.
Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by three wickets to clinch the series at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on October 31.
But the host side was ruled to be one over short after time allowances were taken into consideration. Jeff Crowe of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees imposed the sanction.
In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time.
“Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, so there was no need for a formal hearing,” the International Cricket Council (ICC) said in a statement.
On-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Wayne Knights, third umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid, and fourth umpire Rashid Riaz had levelled the charge.
