Shashank Singh’s all-round effort went in vain as India lost to Pakistan by four wickets in their opening game of Hong Kong Sixes 2026 at the Mission Road Ground on Friday.
Asked to bat first, India lost Rahul Tripathi for just nine. Shashank then produced an 11-ball 40, comprising two fours and five sixes, at No. 3 but did not get support from the other end.
Nitish Rana retired out after a tame 14-ball 19 while Rahul Tewatia and Krunal Pandya were dismissed on golden ducks. T. Natarajan scored 12 runs off 6 balls to take India to 88 for five from its six overs.
Pakistan rode on blazing essays from Khawaja Nafay and Abbas Afridi to settle the contest inside four overs.
Krunal bowled the opening over of the innings and conceded 31 runs. Pakistan had one foot over the line when it collected another 28 from the second over from Natarajan.
Shashank nabbed Afridi in the third over but it was too late to disrupt the chase. Tewatia accounted Nafay before Abdul Samad and Irfan Khan finished the chase with 13 balls to spare.
