Has Apple's magic faded in India? iPhone sales decreased by 30% Zoom

iPhone sales have decreased during the festive season.

New Delhi. This festive season is not looking ‘auspicious’ for Apple. The shine of iPhone, which is considered the first choice for premium phone lovers, seems to be fading in this festive season. This time around Dussehra, there has been a huge decline of up to 30 percent in the sales of iPhone. Even during Diwali, the hope of improvement in demand seems very weak. Market experts are citing rising prices and lack of offers as the main reasons behind this huge decline in sales.

This slowdown in sales during the festive season is in danger of affecting Apple’s growth in India, the world’s second largest smartphone market. The concern of offline stores and dealers has increased due to the decline of up to 30 percent in sales during Dussehra. Retailers had gathered inventory in advance in anticipation of festive demand, but now the stock is stuck in the stores. If demand does not pick up even on Diwali, Apple’s annual shipment in India could fall by double digits from the record level of 14.3 million units recorded last year in 2025.

Why are customers hesitant in purchasing iPhone?

According to a report by Moneycontrol, according to International Data Corporation (IDC) analyst Upasana Joshi, it is clear from the feedback received from retailers that the speed of reaching phones to customers has become very slow. Due to limited discounts and increase in prices, customers are hesitant in buying a new phone. The trend of using old models for a long time is also increasing. This is also affecting the sales of iPhone.

Market cooled down despite new launches

The slowdown in Apple phone sales in India has come despite the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro series and the new iPhone Duo. Analyst Sanyam Chaurasia of market research firm Omdia believes that buyers have now become more cautious due to the expensiveness of the iPhone 18 Pro series along with older models.
