Land Rover Defender 110 prices dropped! Local assembly becomes cheaper by ₹ 34 lakh, now it will cost less than 1 crore

There is big news for luxury SUV lovers. Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has started local assembly of its popular and powerful SUV Defender 110 in India. Due to being assembled domestically, there has been a huge decline in its prices, making it cheaper by Rs 34 lakh as compared to its previous CBU model.

The starting ex-showroom price of the locally manufactured Land Rover Defender X-Dynamic HSE has now been set at Rs 99 lakh. The company has launched it in three powertrain options – P300 petrol, P400 petrol and D350 diesel. Despite such a huge reduction in the price, JLR has not made any compromise in this, rather many features which were earlier optional, have now been included as standard.

Biggest relief on 6-cylinder variants of Defender

• P400 and D350: Earlier the price of these two models was around Rs 1.52 crore with optional features, which has now come down to Rs 1.18 crore (ex-showroom). That means customers will get direct benefit of Rs 34 lakh.
• P300: This 2.0-litre petrol model was earlier available for Rs 1.13 crore, whose new price has been kept at Rs 99 lakh (ex-showroom). There will be a saving of about Rs 14.50 lakh on this.

Engine, Power and Performance

The India-made Defender 110 has three great engine options:

1. P300 (2.0L Petrol): This 1,997 cc engine generates 300 PS power and 400 Nm torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds.
2. P400 (3.0L Petrol): This engine with 2,997 cc capacity gives 400 PS power and 550 Nm torque, which achieves 0-100 km/h speed in just 6.1 seconds.
3. D350 (3.0L Diesel): This 3.0-litre diesel engine produces 350 PS of power and 700 Nm of torque and reaches 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds.

All three engines are mated to 8-speed automatic transmission gearbox.

Unmatched off-roading capabilities

Defender is known for its class-leading off-road capability. It has electronic air suspension, which in off-road mode increases the ground clearance by 75 mm to a total of 293 mm. It can also be lowered by 50 mm for easy entry-exit. Apart from this, features like 900 mm wade sensing (ability to walk in water), Terrain Response 2 and Adaptive Off-Road Cruise Control are available as standard in all variants.

Luxury and new standard features

The company has now made many premium features a part of the base package. 29 additional features are now standard on the P400 and D350, including Meridian surround sound system, head-up display, 14-way heated/cooled memory front seats, heated third-row seats, torque vectoring and 20-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.

Whereas in P300, 17 key features like panoramic sunroof, matrix LED headlamps, Pivi Pro infotainment, three-zone climate control, Clearsight rear-view mirror and cabin air purification plus are being provided without any extra charge.
