Top 10 Compact SUVs H1 FY27: The demand for SUVs and micro SUVs is continuously increasing in the Indian market. In the first half of FY27, Tata Punch has secured the first position in terms of sales, while there was also a tough competition between Tata Nexon and Maruti Fronx. SUVs from Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and Mahindra are also included in this list. Know the complete details of sales, annual growth, price and special features of top 10 SUVs.
Tata Nexon: It achieved total sales of 1,11,919 units in H1 FY27, registering a growth of 25%. Coming in the price range of around ₹ 8.00 lakh to ₹ 15.80 lakh, the futuristic design and split-headlights of this SUV give it a premium look. Ventilated seats, digital console and JBL speakers are available inside. Equipped with 5-star Bharat NCAP safety and 6 airbags, this car has 1.2L turbo-petrol and 1.5L diesel engine options, which give an excellent mileage of around 17 to 24 km/litre.
Maruti Fronx: It recorded strong sales of 1,10,135 units in H1 FY27 with a strong YoY growth of 43%. Available in the range of ₹7.51 lakh to ₹13.04 lakh, this coupe-style crossover looks very bold and sporty. The cabin has 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment, head-up display (HUD) and 360-degree camera. Safe with 6 airbags and ESP, this car comes with 1.2L petrol and 1.0L turbo-petrol engines, which give mileage from 20.01 to 28.51 km/kg (CNG).
Maruti Brezza: It managed to sell 80,516 units in H1 FY27 with a decline of 5%. Priced between ₹8.34 lakh to ₹14.14 lakh, this compact SUV offers a boxy and traditionally muscular stance. The interior has features like ambient lighting, electric sunroof and wireless charging. It has a 1.5-litre K-series petrol/CNG engine with 6 airbags and hill-hold safety, which comfortably provides a mileage of 17.38 to 25.51 km/kg in the city and on the highway.

Hyundai Venue: It registered impressive sales of 68,836 units during H1 FY27, showing a YoY growth of 38%. Available at a price of ₹ 7.94 lakh to ₹ 13.48 lakh, this SUV looks quite attractive with its dark chrome grille and connected LED taillights. Inside, 8-inch infotainment and 2-step reclining seats are provided. Equipped with ADAS technology and 6 standard airbags, this car is available in 1.2L petrol, 1.0L turbo and 1.5L diesel engines, whose mileage ranges from 18.3 to 24.2 km/litre.
Kia Sonet: It managed to achieve sales of 56,929 units in H1 FY27 with an annual growth of 21%. The sporty ‘tiger nose’ design of the Sonet, which ranges from ₹ 7.99 lakh to ₹ 15.75 lakh, attracts a lot of people. Its high-tech cabin is equipped with dual 10.25-inch screens, Bose audio and ventilated seats. With level-1 ADAS and 6 airbags, it is available with 1.2L petrol, 1.0L turbo and 1.5L diesel engines, which give a mileage of 18.4 to 24.1 km/litre.
Mahindra Priced between ₹ 7.79 lakh to ₹ 15.49 lakh, the refreshed bold look and panoramic skyroof of this SUV make it special. Inside there is a soft-touch dashboard, dual screen and premium sound. Equipped with level-2 ADAS and 6 airbags, this car comes in 1.2L turbo-petrol and 1.5L diesel engine, which gives a mileage of 18.06 to 21.2 km/litre.
Mahindra Bolero: It achieved sales of 51,720 units in H1 FY27, registering a solid growth of 30%. Priced between ₹ 9.79 lakh to ₹ 10.91 lakh, this vehicle is famous in rural and semi-urban areas for its strong boxy and metal body design. Its 7-seater cabin is very practical with basic digital console and AC. ABS and dual airbags are available in safety. It has a 1.5-litre mHawk75 diesel engine, which gives a mileage of approximately 16 km/litre.
Hyundai Exter: It registered successful sales of 46,156 units in H1 FY27 with a massive YoY growth of 40%. Priced between ₹ 6.13 lakh to ₹ 10.43 lakh, this micro-SUV comes with signature H-shaped LED lights and rugged cladding. Voice-enabled sunroof, dashcam and touchscreen are available in the cabin. 6 airbags are standard across all variants. It is equipped with 1.2L Kappa petrol/CNG engine, which gives a mileage of 19.2 to 27.1 km/kg.
Mahindra Thar: This lifestyle SUV recorded strong sales of 25,424 units during H1 FY27, registering a growth of 34%. Priced between ₹11.35 lakh to ₹17.60 lakh ex-showroom, this icon off-roader is known for its classic retro look and high ground clearance. Its washable interior has a 7-inch touchscreen and roof-mounted speakers. The Thar with 4-star crash safety comes with 2.0L turbo-petrol and 1.5L/2.2L diesel engines, which give a mileage of 12 to 15 km/liter with 4×4 capability.
