Tata Motors has released the teaser of the interior of its upcoming compact sedan Aeris. This teaser has come out just a day before the launch tomorrow on 25th September. In the pictures, the layout of the dashboard looks very similar to the recently launched Tiago, but the color scheme is kept in light beige and gray shades. The most important thing is that the company has shown 360 degree camera system with dashcam function.
The free-standing touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, two-spoke steering wheel and front center armrest are clearly visible in the cabin. Rotary gear selector and paddle shifters are also present in the AMT version. This sedan will replace Tigor and will compete with Maruti Dezire, Honda Amaze and Hyundai Aura in the market. The powertrain is expected to be available in 1.2 liter petrol and CNG options.
Dashboard and cabin layout
The free-standing touchscreen on the dashboard is placed above the twin central AC vents. Below this is a row of physical switches and a gloss-black climate control panel, with two rotary knobs and ‘Aeris’ lettering clearly visible. The upper and lower dashboard are separated by a textured horizontal trim strip. The beige theme extends to the seats and adjustable front headrests. Front center armrest is also present.
Steering and instrument cluster
The two-spoke multifunction steering wheel is clearly visible in the teaser. A full digital instrument cluster is installed in front of the driver. Looking at the rotary selector on the center console, it seems that this is the AMT version. Paddle shifters are also available.
360 degree camera and dashcam
Four camera feeds of front, rear, left and right are visible simultaneously on the touchscreen. This system will not only provide parking assist but will also work for continuous recording and storing incident footage like a dashcam. Such technology is already available in some current models of Tata.
Possible Features
Given the layout shared with the Tiago, the Airis is likely to get a 10.25-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, Harman audio system, wireless charging, USB Type-C ports, automatic climate control and rear AC vents. Blind view monitor may also come with a camera system.
Boot space and powertrain
Airis will get more luggage space as compared to hatchback Tiago. In the twin-cylinder CNG version, the boot space may be slightly affected due to the tank packaging. The engine will be 1.2 liter naturally aspirated petrol, which will have both manual and AMT options. CNG version is also going to be available in MT and AMT.
