Mercedes is going to launch its ultra-luxury sedan 2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class in India on October 5. This facelifted model will hit the Indian market about six months after its global debut in March. The updated Maybach S-Class gets the same visual and technology upgrades as the new S-Class, along with improvements in personalization options and powertrains. The current Maybach S 580 is priced around Rs 2.87-2.88 crore (ex-showroom).

Due to new upgrades, it is expected to come at a higher price, which may go beyond Rs 3 crore. This model is ready to woo ultra-rich customers with rear-seat focus, luxury and modern features. India-specific variants and exact powertrains will be confirmed closer to launch. Come, let us know about the possible details.

Design and dimensions

On the exterior, the front grille has become 20 percent larger and features Maybach signature vertical slats with LED illumination and illuminated ‘Maybach’ wordmark. There is an illuminated Mercedes star on the bonnet. The new and larger headlights have three-pointed star DRLs. The lower air dams have a mesh pattern with a small Maybach logo.

The car is 180 mm longer than the long-wheelbase S-Class. New 20 and 21-inch forged alloy wheels are available, some with a counterweighted Mercedes logo that stays upright when spun. There is an illuminated Maybach logo on the D-pillar and a three-pointed-star LED signature in the tail-lamps. There are more exterior colors and two-tone paint options than the manufacturer range.

Interior and Features

The cabin has a superscreen setup like the S-Class. It will come with 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 14.4-inch central touchscreen and 12.3-inch passenger display. The new E&E architecture has four supercomputers handling the screen, safety and driving dynamics. More extended leather upholstery, new colors and for the first time, leather-free vegan upholstery options are available. The rear seats recline up to 43 degrees (38 degrees in the standard S-Class) with heated, ventilated and massage functions. The car’s functions can be controlled with two smartphone-style remotes.

safety detail

The new electronic architecture supports advanced safety features. Like the S-Class family, it is expected to include modern driver assistance systems, multiple airbags and structural strength. However, India-specific details will be clear at launch.

Powertrain and performance

In the global market, the S 580 has an upgraded 4.0-litre V8 (flat-plane crank) engine, which produces 537 hp power and 750 Nm torque. There is also an S 580e PHEV in some markets. The 3.0-litre inline-six + 163 hp electric motor and 22 kWh battery deliver a total of 585 hp, 750 Nm and approximately 98 km electric range. The top S 680 can get a V12 or a more powerful V8 (612 hp, 850 Nm). V8 variants will likely come to India. Exact confirmation will be at launch.
