Shubman Gill took an outstanding catch to dismiss Kamindu Mendis on the third day of India’s first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle.
The dismissal came in the 17th over of Sri Lanka’s batting innings off the bowling of Kuldeep Yadav. Mendis advanced down the wicket looking to punch Kuldeep through cover, and chipped the ball aerially.
Gill, fielding at short cover, threw himself forward diving at full stretch and scooped the ball off the ground with his left hand.
Mendis was dismissed for 14 from 25 balls.
The wicket leaves India well-placed against Sri Lanka, leading by 403 runs with its host four wickets down.
