A new feature may soon come for WhatsApp users, with the help of which messages can be written in advance and scheduled to be sent at a fixed time. According to the report, the company is testing the Scheduled Messages feature with some beta users of Android. With its help, apart from text messages, users will also be able to schedule links, photos and videos to be sent later.

This feature can be beneficial for those people who want to wish someone a happy birthday, send important information or send a group message at a particular time. There will be no need to keep the phone in hand at that time to send the message.

How will Scheduled Messages feature work on WhatsApp?

According to the report of WABetaInfo, this feature is being rolled out for some users using WhatsApp Android beta version 2.26.40.7.

According to the report, to schedule a message, the user will have to open the chat and type the message. After this, by pressing and holding the Send button, the option to select date and time may appear. However, this option will be available only to those users whose account has the feature available.

It is being told that users will be able to schedule messages from 10 minutes to two weeks. This feature can work for text messages, links, photos and videos. However, there is said to be an option to schedule only one photo or video at a time. Users may also be able to make changes to the photo or add a caption before sending it.

Messages can be sent even when the phone is offline

One special thing about this feature may be that the message will be sent automatically when the scheduled time comes. For this, it will not be necessary for WhatsApp to be open or for the sender’s phone to be online.

The Scheduled Messages feature is expected to work in group chats as well. However, according to the report, scheduled messages can only be received by members who were present in the group when the message was scheduled. Members who join the group later are not expected to receive that message.

Option to delete message before sending

Users can also get a separate option to view Scheduled Messages in the chat information section. From here they will be able to check the messages sent at the scheduled time and will also be able to delete them if necessary. If a scheduled message is deleted, then according to the report, the recipient will not get a notification.

When will the new feature be available?

According to the report, the scheduled message feature can support end-to-end encryption. Currently it is being tested with some Android beta users. It is expected to be released for more users in the coming weeks. However, WhatsApp has not yet revealed the official date of global rollout of this feature.
