Car Scratch Removal Tips: Know complete tips.

Car Scratch Removal Tips: It is common to have scratches on the car body. Rubbing somewhere in the parking lot, touching a tree branch or getting a mark on the paint due to a small accident. These scratches not only spoil the appearance, but if they become deep, they also increase the risk of rust. The good thing is that most mild to moderate scratches can be treated at home.

Before choosing the right method, it is important to know the depth of the scratch. If the nail gets stuck in the scratch then it is deep, otherwise only the clear coat is affected. With the right products and careful work, a car can look like new. You can easily remove scratches with the five practical tips given below. Let us know about them one by one.

Check the depth of the scratch

First wash and dry the scratched area with a clean cloth. Then rub the nail lightly on the scratch. If the nail gets stuck, the scratch has reached the base coat or primer. If it doesn’t get stuck, it’s only on the clear coat. Try sprinkling water. If it disappears when it gets wet then it is light. This test makes it easier to choose the right method and applying the wrong product does not cause additional harm.

Remove minor scratches with toothpaste

White, non-gel whitening toothpaste is effective for minor clear coat scratches. Clean the area thoroughly and let it dry. Apply some toothpaste on a wet soft cloth and rub it with light pressure in a round shape. Act for thirty to sixty seconds, then rinse with water and dry with a microfiber cloth. Repeat if necessary. Finally apply wax. This method is suitable only for superficial marks.

Apply scratch remover or rubbing compound

For moderate scratches purchase automotive scratch remover or rubbing compound. Clean the area and apply a little product to a foam pad or microfiber cloth. Rub with moderate pressure in the direction of the scratch or in a round shape. Check after a few passes by wiping it with a clean cloth. Apply polish to bring back the shine. Do not work in the sun and avoid excessive rubbing so that the clear coat does not thin.

Fill deep scratches with touch-up paint

If the scratch has reached the paint or primer, apply touch-up paint as per the car’s paint code. Clean the area and remove oil with alcohol. Apply paint in thin layers and let each layer dry. If necessary, apply clear coat also. After drying, level and polish lightly with very fine sandpaper. This method also helps in preventing rust.

apply wax at the end

Always apply wax, sealant or ceramic coating after removing scratches. Apply a thin layer on a clean surface and spread it in a circular motion and wipe it off when Hajj is done. This adds shine and provides protection from future scratches. Regular washing and waxing protects the paint for a long time. Seek professional help for deep scratches or scratches that reach the metal.
